Who knew Mos Def could produce? This track is smooth and I guess you can consider this the first track from Center Edge Territory since it has Mos Def and Curren$y on it. It’s quite short too so maybe Jay Electronica will be getting on the track.

New track from Spitta off of the re-release of This is Not a Mixtape. Not my favorite track from Curren$y but not a bad track to add to an already great album.

With maybe the greatest news in hip-hop in a while, Jay Electronica, Mos Def, and Curren$y have joined forces to make up the hip-hop group of Center Edge Territory. Surprisingly the one of the guys who can be credited for the group is Dame Dash, as the three met at his new studio DD172. Before anyone calls this just another CRS[kanYe+Lupe+Pharrell], Curren$y says they are already six tracks deep and will be releasing an album next year. I know how hard it is for groups like these to get something done, but I think these guys can do it. I can see Mos Def and Jay Elec working together since Jay Elec opened for Mos Def on his Ecstatic Tour and Mos Def graced Jay with his verse on Exhibit B. Then you add Curren$y into the mix, who has become one of my favorite up and coming rappers. I can only imagine they will be getting Just Blaze on the beats with Jay E in the group, but Mos Def and Curren$y have had excellent production in the past as well. Check the video after the jump of Curren$y talking about the group.

Another track from Spitta, this time a leak from his Smokey Robinson project with Don Cannon. The project has been in the works for over four years now, and will finally be out this week. I’ll post it as it becomes available.

Another track from Curren$y, this one has a slightly different sound than other songs I have heard from him. It still has that upbeat flow, but the overall sound is a little different. Spitta will be working with Don Cannon on a mixtape which should be dropping soon, so stay tuned for that.

Spitta dropped another track straight from his Twitter today and it sounds similar in quality to the stuff on his This Is Not a Mixtape album that dropped earlier this year. Curren$y is one of the better new rappers, with decent lyrics and a flow that seems natural to him. Spitta reps New Orleans pretty hard, I guess he wants you to know Weezy ain’t the only one from there.

How-Fly-CoverCurren$y and Wiz Khalifa end the weekend nicely with a chill mixtape for the rest of the Summer. Both artist came together for this mixtape after coming off some hot mixtapes of their own earlier this year. I think Curren$y spits a little harder, but the complement each other pretty well here on the How Fly mixtape. If you liked Spitta’s This Ain’t No Mixtape album, you will probably like this, so hit up the link below.

Nice soulful rap track featuring Curren$y and Wiz Khalifa, both will be working together on the How Fly mixtape. However this song won’t be on there.

PrintI know I am totally late on this, but I finally picked up the album today and I am liking it so far. Lot of nice beats and features to go along with Curren$y’s verese. I have to give it a couple more listens before I give my final review. The album is $8.99 but you could probably find it for $free.99. You should probably support these indie hip-hop artists, but if you can’t afford it, well there’s torrents.

Wale announced his highly anticipated mixtape with 9th Wonder will release on April 29th. Wale has promised he would announce the release date as part of his weekly updates leading up to his single on Friday. The Back to the Feature mixtape is just a feel good hip hop album that features many collaborations like Joe Budden, Currensy, Joell Ortiz, Tre frm UCB, Drake, Bun B, J Cole, Talib Kweli, Royce the 5′9″, XO, Kenn Starr and many others. I am really looking forward to this as I loved all of Wale’s past mixtapes. His album, Attention: Defecit, drops in June so we will have plenty of Wale to listen to this year.
