In this episode follow Maestro and his friend Ibn to the Venice skate park and then on to Chicago to check out RSVP Gallery. Plus Ibn gives Maestro a tour of downtown Chicago’s shopping district. You should be able to figure out why Lupe shouts out his name in Paris, Tokyo and kanYe named a pair of LV sneakers after him.
To Whom It May Concern…
For The Record:
The track “I’m Beaming” that was leaked last night was NOT authorized or intentionally leaked by myself or my company.
A lot of time and energy goes into the creation of this music, not to mention large sums of money, money provided by my record company as well as from my own personal finances. My music is the product of my life. It means so much to me. I take pride in it and i also take pride in how it changes peoples lives and gives them hope. So to see it treated in this manner really numbs the soul. So many of my family and friends rely on me for their well-being and I rely on my music to give me the opportunities that allow me to provide for them.
So this one i’m taking personal. And I will do ALL that is in my power and my circle of influence to make sure that the persons directly or even remotely responsible for this and any future events involving the piracy and illegal distribution and solicitation of my music will be brought to justice and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Both criminally as well as civilly.
With the history that surrounds the devastating and massive piracy of my first album i’m sure some of you can understand why this very harsh stance that is being taken up. And for those of you unsympathetic enough not to understand i can only compare it to someone breaking into your house and stealing everything not tied down or someone kidnapping you sister or brother and ransoming them back to you. A deep sense of helplessness. I hope you never have to feel this and i wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy.
EVEN AT THIS TIME WE ARE NOT LOSERS…
Lupe Fiasco…Friend Of The People…
This might be the one of the best Christmas Eves ever. I did not think we would get this song so quickly, but here it is after Just Blaze and Jay Electronica just played it on the radio on Tuesday.
Excuse the stupid tags on this track from Lupe that will not be making it on to LASERS. Wait a second, I got a couple Christmas Eve presents to deliver on here today.
I am loving these Just Blaze appearances on Shade 45’s Toca’s Tuesdays. Every time he shows up, he drops heat. Last time it was Exhibit C and a bunch of Saigon tracks, tonight he dropped that Reflection Eternal track and now this. I love how Just Blaze is working with all of these artists, I truly believe he is bringing back hip-hop.
Not that BAPE has looked bad lately, but this upcoming collection looks a lot better than what they have been putting out. I’m not saying that because Ye is wearing it, but everything besides the bright multi-colored hoodie looks pretty good. Lookout for this stuff in Spring 2010.
It looks like anything that Jay Electronica and J. Cole are on will be fire. This song is the definition of great hip-hop. I mean four of the best rappers, from newcomers to respected artist, this song has it all on top of a dope beat. What more can you ask for?
Fitted Hawaii’s latest pack pays homage to the US Navy which has a lot of roots in the islands with Pearl Harbor. The pack features a Kamehameha, accurately named U.S.S. Kamehameha, which is named after the U.S. Navy submarine with the same moniker (SSBN-642). The hat is dipped in navy blue with a gold Kamehameha and eyelets, including a gold rope which wraps around and gold leaves, normally associated with highranking Naval officers. The rest of the pack features a zip-up hoody (called Fox One) in gray with 49 navy blue stars and one gold star (representing Hawaii). The front features the words FITTED HAWAII / ALOHA SERVED DAILY wrapped around a gold 50. The t-shirt, titled “Intercept” (as in radar intercept) features a radar graphic, printed on white, with gold leaves around the radar blip. The radar, centered on the Hawaiian islands is printed in navy blue. The pack is available starting today at Fitted Hawaii.
There was a TV rip of the video last night, but I waited until the high quality version surfaced this morning. I didn’t even know Jay was making a video for this, but this is more for his UK fans. The video has been making its rounds on all the UK music shows with the added popularity of Mr. Hudson. The video itself is decent showing a lot of different shots that portray being young. There should be at least one or two more videos from The Blueprint 3 coming soon, so be on the lookout for those.
The production on this song is nice, but Jay used a recycled verse he has used for Timbaland and Missy Elliot before. I’m Japanese but I can only understand what Verbal is saying, so I pretty much listen to this song for the nice piano beat. I think Verbal should release an album of his own, not sure how marketable it would be outside of Japan, but he can rap. This is off of their latest album Delirious Japanese that recently dropped in Japan.
This is the song that Wale played for labels when he was trying to get signed. Here is the story of the song itself:
So in the spring of 2007, I suggested to Wale that he create an audio manifesto of what he wanted to accomplish as an artist once he signed. DC producer Osinachi, the maestro behind “Nike Boots” who is now part of Rodney Jerkins’ team, blessed Wale with the beat for “The Meeting” and Wale, how do you say, “went in.” This became the first track we played in label meetings and for a time, it was discussed that this would be the intro for Attention Deficit. In retrospect, I think Wale stayed true to the goals set forth in “The Meeting” and you can still hear the hunger in his voice. So 2.5 years later, this track is emancipated. And make sure you cop Attention Deficit if you haven’t done so already.
After listening to this, I don’t get how Interscope under supported Wale. I mean he had like no marketing push for his album and then they severely undershipped his album. Wale deserves much better than that and I hope they will show him more love in 2010. Wale needs to get in the studio with Osinachi more, because this production is insane.
Lupe Fiasco has become Blitzen the reindeer and is going after Kobe, LeBron, and Santa. It’s a pretty dope verse for a commercial and these commercials seem to be getting better and better. Unfortunately this will be the last of Lupe you hear this month as he has canceled his Friend of the People mixtape. No worries though because his single off of LASERS will be dropping the first week of January.
